On July 4, the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Society of Navigation was held in Beijing, at which the 2018 Science and Technology Award of the Chinese Society of Navigation was awarded. The "Twelfth Five-Year" National Science and Technology Support Program "Research and Demonstration of Key Technologies for my countrys Water Transportation Carbon Emission Verification" project undertaken by China Classification Society won the second prize.
The project is headed by Huang Shiyuan, general manager of China Classification Society Quality Certification Co., Ltd. According to the latest trend of international negotiations on climate change, combined with the actual needs of Chinas low-carbon development, closely around the core goal of "establishing an MVR system in line with international standards and in line with Chinas national conditions", the research group has studied and formulated carbon emission accounting standards and specifications for the water transport industry that are in line with Chinas national conditions, operable, scientific and economical, for the first time, Chinas water transportation carbon emission accounting and verification technology system has been constructed, which has filled the technical gap in the field of MRV in Chinas water transportation industry, and achieved fruitful results, including two software copyright patents of the National Copyright Administration, one monograph, one national standard and four scientific papers. Through the identification of scientific and technological achievements by the Chinese Navigation Society, the research results have reached the international advanced level.
