Recently, the report published by the Peoples Daily that the barrier-free environment certification system has been implemented in more than 30 key projects in multiple scenes and has successively obtained certification certificates, and the article published by Xinhua News Agency that "the implementation of barrier-free environment for three years into reality" all focus on the achievements of the construction of Chinas barrier-free certification system. As a leader in the field of barrier-free certification, China Classification Society Quality Certification Co., Ltd. (CCSC) has become an important driving force in this process with bright data.
In the field of barrier-free certification, China Classification Society Quality Certification Co., Ltd. (CCSC) continues to deepen its efforts and use benchmark projects to interpret the responsibilities of industry leaders. The first batch of barrier-free environment certification projects in the country totaled 10, of which 8 were certified by CCSC. Up to now, a total of 34 barrier-free environment certification certificates have been issued nationwide, of which 31 have been issued by CCSC. In 2024, the "China Credit Co-construction Annual Recommendation List" set up the "Barrier-free Credit Environment Demonstration Case" for the first time. The eight selected units-including Beijing Daxing International Airport and Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport-were all certified by CCSC. In 2025, another 14 units will be awarded the "Demonstration Case of Chinas Social Credit Barrier-free Environment Construction". There are not only CCSC office building barrier-free environment certification cases, but also Hangzhou Shangbao Community, Lingao County Government Service Center, Alibaba Global Headquarters Visitor Center, Shanghai Yangzhi Rehabilitation Hospital, etc. All 13 cases are also certified by CCSC. Among the 100 landmark demonstration results released by the barrier-free environment construction think tank, 11 barrier-free environment certification results were selected, and CCSC occupied 9 seats. CCSC technicians travel all over the country all the year round, from Beijing Disabled Service Demonstration Center to Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, from Hainan Baisha Li Autonomous County Library to Guangzhou Disabled Sports Center. They take instruments to measure inch by inch and check against standards one by one. The issuance of each certificate means that the barrier-free environment level of a project site has been solidly improved by one step.
Data and honor are just the surface. What really drives the CCSC team to keep moving forward is to return to the original question again and again:" who does the barrier-free environment serve? "" what is a high-quality barrier-free environment?" with these questions in mind, CCSC people repeatedly examine a paradox in practice:" if a building is equipped with barrier-free facilities, does it mean that "barrier-free" has been achieved? "" if the barrier-free entrance of the building is located at the back door, wheelchair users must detour to enter. From the construction standard, there are barrier-free facilities here; but from the perspective of equality, the problem still exists-why people in wheelchairs can only Go another way?" this inquiry made the CCSC team realize that facilities and services are only means. The real goal of accessibility is to enable everyone-regardless of whether it is convenient to move, age, and cognitive ability-to participate in social life with dignity and equality. Ramps, handrails, and blind roads are just the foundation. More importantly, in the physical environment, information environment, and service environment, those invisible obstacles are smoothed one by one. Good environment, should take the initiative to adapt to people, rather than let people adapt to the environment. Based on this recognition, CCSC has set its sights on a broader field.

The answer is hidden in the re-examination of every level. At the environmental level, we focus on the accessibility and inclusion of the entire space; at the product level, we explore the possibilities of all-age friendliness and universal design; at the facility level, we focus on the subtleties of dignity and convenience; at the service level, we emphasize the resilience of the system and the temperature of the person. CCSC people know that accessibility is not a static list, nor is it a one-time project. It is an ongoing dialogue, an active design for the future. Only by digging deeper and expanding the connotation of barrier-free can equal participation change from vision to reality in more and more scenes.
